Reflections on the Winter Solstice

The long dark nights of Winter are my favorite for reflecting on life’s recent offerings and the idea of new beginnings. Challenge is opportunity and boy has 2020 offered up plenty of it!

The launch of our Spring-Summer 2020 Collection, Nectar took a backseat to the outbreak of Covid-19. We took a sharp pivot from preparing for the runway to shifting all efforts on production of face masks for many months. We then chose to forgo a Fall-Winter Collection in order to focus our efforts concisely on what matters most for us right now. Taking a soft pause to assess the new normal, our agenda for moving forward, and just how to go about that has taken center stage. As I reflect on all the exciting accomplishments throughout our journey I am most excited about the supportive community I have surrounding this little business venture. For that I THANK YOU!

Moving into 2021 means the recognition of an important milestone.

~ On January 1st, Coral Marie celebrates 10 years in business ~

This is all possible because of the outpouring of support I continue to receive and for that I am ever grateful.

With Gratitude,

Coral

Let's change the world with what we wear!

2020 gave us lots of opportunity for just that.

THE CORAL MARIE MASK PROJECT launched on April 2nd 2020 in immediate response to the Covid19 outbreak.

We began making organic cotton masks with filter pockets available on a sliding scale and donated to ensure they were obtainable to all. These masks were made in my studio at a record speed and shipped within two days of order all over the country. Simultaneously, I offered my mask pattern for free use including video sewing tutorials. One week later we launched our second version of this project, still offering masks on a sliding scale, but with new options to ensure we were meeting our production costs in order to stay afloat. All the while maintaining a significant discount for essential works and offering many donation masks to local community support organizations. After producing 1000 masks, 500 of which were directly donated or sold below cost, we moved on to our third and final version of the project. Coral Marie is sustainably producing multiple mask styles & sizes right here in our solar powered, zero-waste studio in Southeast Ohio. We continue to donate masks as possible, and have provided patterns for free use with sewing tutorials.

This project has been made possible in part by the COVID-19 Athens Response Fund, and by those who chose to pay it forward with their own purchases.
